David Parr has been thinking about magic for more than fifty years. It began at age seven when he received a magic set as a gift. Since then, he has brought the experience of mystery and wonder to audiences worldwide.
David is delighted to be returning to the Chicago Magic Lounge with his latest show, Magical Thinking. This show takes a closer look at the human desire to experience things that make us feel a sense of awe and how magic provides a respite from the pressures of the everyday world.
Come and join us for an enchanting evening of celebrating the power of magical thinking. We'll imagine the impossible is possible, with objects vanishing or transforming, time seemingly rewinding, hidden thoughts being revealed, and spooky spirits making an appearance! Along the way, we'll delve into games and storytelling, history and folklore, and the mind of a true master of the art of magic!
The evening begins with close-up magic performed right at your cabaret table by our talented house magicians. In between visits, you have time to socialize, order from our friendly waitstaff, and enjoy the ambiance of the Harry Blackstone Cabaret Theater™.

About the Artist
David Parr is an internationally acclaimed performer known for his theatrical style and mastery of the art of magic. When he isn't busy mystifying guests at corporate functions and private events or performing at Hollywood's prestigious Magic Castle, he devotes his time to theatrical endeavors, such as Haunting History, a guided tour of the shadowy territory where history meets myth and folklore, and Visions of Poe, an interactive journey into the tales and poems of Edgar Allan Poe. He created and co-starred in Chicago's longest-running weekly magic show and has published several highly regarded books for magicians. David created and costarred in Chicago's longest-running weekly magic show, which the Travel Channel chose as one of the top nine magic shows in the nation! (Because top-ten lists are so passé.) David's relationship with the Lounge goes back to 2018 when he was the first artist-in-residence when the venue opened its secret doors. His show, David Parr's Cabinet of Curiosities, was a hit and ran successfully for a year until the spring of 2019.
Additionally, David has published several highly regarded books for magicians, been a technical consultant to many theatrical productions, given presentations at academic conferences, and provided guidance and instruction to magicians at lecture appearances across the United States and Canada. He has also been a featured columnist, proofreader, and copy editor for the world's top magic journal for the past decade.

Magical Thinking will be presented on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm, July 3 – September 25, 2024. Tickets are priced at $42.50 (Main Floor) and $47.50 (Front Row).
The Harry Blackstone Cabaret features an unobstructed view from every section.
The cabaret-style seating, with elevated rail and banquette areas on the main floor, allows maximum access to view the stage and enjoy a cocktail. This also means you and your party may share a table with other guests.
